Gladys Bagasin assists Prof. Bernard Hanotiau in the management of international commercial and investment arbitration cases where he acts as the presiding arbitrator or member of the arbitral tribunal. Ms. Bagasin has experience in ad hoc as well as institutional arbitrations under various institutional rules, covering a wide range of disputes relating to gas pricing, energy, project management, construction, licensing, distributorship, sales and others.
Prior to joining HVDB, Ms. Bagasin worked in Georgetown University as a research and teaching assistant to Prof. Jennifer Hillman (former World Trade Organization Appellate Body Member) and Prof. Joost Pauwelyn. She also coordinated and supervised international trade and investment projects for Georgetown University’s International Economic Law practicum program, with participants from the U.S.A., Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
In the Philippines, where she practiced law for four years, Ms. Bagasin was a senior associate of a top-tier Philippine law firm where she represented clients in high-stakes international and domestic arbitration proceedings. In addition, she acted as a litigation attorney in civil, criminal and administrative cases.
Ms. Bagasin graduated from Georgetown University in 2015 with a Master of Laws degree in International Legal Studies (with Distinction), and a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (Dean’s List). She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines in 2009, and her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Ateneo de Manila University in 2005.
Ms. Bagasin is a licensed attorney in New York State, U.S.A. and the Philippines, and is registered with the Brussels Bar.
